When Does the Maid Levy Start & How Can I Pay?

For first-time Migrant Domestic Workers (MDWs), the maid levy begins on the 5th day after arrival in Singapore, including the arrival date. For returning or transferred helpers, levy dues begin the next day.

To simplify levy payments, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) recommends setting up GIRO for automatic deduction. Alternatively, you may use PayNow QR for one-time payments.

For full instructions, payment deadlines, and application forms, refer to the official MOM guide on Levy Payment.

Maid Levy Due Dates & Late Payment Penalties

To remain compliant with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM) regulations, the monthly maid levy must be paid by the 17th of each month. Failure to do so can lead to serious consequences:

  • 2% late fee or minimum S$20 (whichever is higher)
  • Penalty charges up to 30% of the unpaid levy amount
  • Cancellation of your helper’s Work Permit
  • Restriction from applying for or renewing any new Work Permits
  • Legal recovery action by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM)
