This MDW employer checklist Singapore is agency-led. Jans Maid handles transportation, medicals, and SIP, and advises on compulsory insurance. You approve and pay; we execute. As a result, onboarding stays clear, compliant, and on schedule.
1) MDW employer checklist Singapore — before you apply
- 1.1EOP (first-time employer) — complete at least 2 working days before applyingDo it online here: Employers’ Orientation Programme (MOM). Afterwards, keep the acknowledgement email for your records.
- 1.2Budget, insurance & bond — consultant-led instalment planOur consultant guides an instalment plan and cashflow. MOM requires medical insurance ≥ $60,000/year (inpatient & day surgery) and personal accident ≥ $60,000. For non-Malaysians, a $5,000 security bond applies. We advise options; you approve purchase.
- 1.3Job scope & rest-day planDefine duties clearly; plan at least 1 rest day weekly (see Section 5). Therefore, expectations stay aligned from day one.
2) Before arrival (agency-led)
- 2.1Insurance choices — advised by Jans MaidWe recommend compliant plans and prepare forms. Once you approve, we can submit on your behalf. Consequently, there’s less back-and-forth and fewer delays.
- 2.2Arrival prep & accommodationWe plan transport from the airport, safe accommodation, essentials, and the first-day briefing.
We also prepare your Salary Schedule pack (see 3.9): itemised template + monthly record sheets.
3) Arrival → issuance (handled by Jans Maid)

- 3.1Transport & accommodationAirport pickup, safe lodging, and a first-day briefing — all handled by Jans Maid.
- 3.2Pre-employment medicalWe schedule within 2 weeks and arrange transport. Results are tracked for WP issuance.
- 3.3SIP (Settling-In Programme)Mandatory 1-day session within 7 days of arrival. Booked & managed by Jans Maid.
- 3.4Bank account opened during SIPPersonal (not joint) account. The ATM card is mailed to the employer; activate with your helper when it arrives.
- 3.7Biometrics (photo & thumbprint) & Work Permit issuanceWe complete photo & thumbprint capture, issue the WP, and track card delivery.

4) Salary & banking (ongoing)
- 4.1Pay monthly, on timePay no later than 7 days after the salary period ends (period ≤ 1 month).
- 4.2Prefer bank transferPay into her personal account. If she asks, you must use bank transfer. If cash, both parties sign the record.
- 4.3Do not hold her money or bank itemsDon’t keep her salary, bank book, or ATM card.
- 4.4Record everythingUse the Salary Schedule: base pay, rest-day compensation, advances (if any), levy notes.
5) Rest days & well-being
- 5.11 rest day per weekAt least one per month must be taken (cannot be paid away). Others: replacement day or one day’s wage by agreement.
- 5.2Accommodation & mealsProvide a proper sleeping space with privacy and ventilation; ensure adequate meals; respect faith and dietary needs.
- 5.3SafetyFollow window-cleaning safety rules; use the MDW Safety Agreement; share house rules and emergency contacts.
6) MDW employer checklist Singapore — levy, GIRO & waivers

- 6.2Concession levyIf eligible, concession is $60/month (caps/conditions apply). Details: Maid Levy Guide.
- 6.3Levy waiversOverseas leave ≥ 7 consecutive days (capped annually) or during hospitalisation. Apply within the allowed window; keep proof.
7) Medical & records (incl. measles)
- 7.16-Monthly Medical Examination (6ME) — paid by employer; scheduled when dueWe’ll advise and book it when required; file clinic slips with your records.
- 7.2Measles immunity — in force from 1 Sep 2025If your household has a child under 7 who is not fully vaccinated against measles, your helper must be immune at Work Permit issuance or renewal. Proof: vaccination record (MMR), positive measles IgG, or lab-confirmed past infection. See the Measles Immunity Guide.
- 7.3PEM & fitness to workPEM within 2 weeks of arrival; WP only after she passes.
- 7.4Keep clean recordsInsurance, bond, WP letters, Salary Schedule, rest-day notes, levy GIRO, medical slips, measles docs.
8) Changes, renewals, home leave & end

- 8.1Notify MOM of changesUpdate address/particulars promptly; keep confirmations.
- 8.2Renew Work Permit on timeRenew before expiry. If applicable, declare measles status at renewal. Replace a lost/damaged WP card promptly.
- 8.3Home leave after 24 months (paid by employer)After 24 months with the same employer, the helper is entitled to home leave paid by the employer. Renew the Work Permit before travel so she can resume work upon return. Jans Maid assists with all paperwork (tickets, endorsements, re-entry timing).
- 8.4End of employmentCancel the WP, settle salary, and arrange repatriation or a lawful transfer.
9) Don’ts (protect yourself and her)
- 9.1Don’t keep her passport or WP cardPassports belong to the bearer/issuing authority. Keeping one that isn’t yours is an offence. The WP card is issued to the worker.
- 9.2Don’t underpay or delay salaryPay the full declared amount on time, preferably via bank transfer.
